Sam's Snapshot

The East Surrey constituency covers the easternmost section of Surrey, bordering Kent, and includes the small towns of Caterham, Oxted and Warlingham.

East Surrey has a primarily rural, pastural character. Development has been limited to narrow valleys and established upland settlements by the North Downs; and much of the area is covered with wooded hillsides and rolling arable land.

Horley Central

Horley is a busy town with a population of about 20,000. The Town's main advantage is its strategic location close to Gatwick Airport, the M23 and M25; it is within easy reach of the south coast and the channel ports and there are regular train services to Brighton, London and, via Thameslink, as far north as Bedford. It has a thriving business community, a high proportion of which is involved in the provision of airport support and services. This has led to a low level of unemployment and a high standard of living. Significant improvements to the town centre are underway.

Several attractive buildings dating back to the Middle Ages can be found close to the River Mole.
