Action on Oxted Quarry

I remain deeply concerned about the situation at Oxted Quarry, including Southern Gravel’s request for 200 movements of waste HGVs per day. I am fighting to ensure Chalkpit Lane does not become an HGV Highway and have:

– Submitted my formal objections to SCC as part of their consultation on vehicle movements.
– Requested an urgent meeting with the Environment Agency to discuss the permit that allowed Southern Gravel to double their annual waste infill to 200,000 tonnes and the implications this decision will have on our area.
– Written to Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs requesting that he seriously consider calling in the permit for review.

While I accept that Southern Gravel has a right to run their business, this should not be to the detriment of local residents, their safety, and the environment around them.
