Deeply concerned to hear that Southern Gravel are proposing a daily limit of 200 HGV movements of waste a day to Oxted Quarry, on Chalkpit Lane. This is on top of limitless movements of vehicles carrying chalk. These excessive movements would turn Chalkpit Lane into nothing short of an HGV Highway.
Chalkpit Lane is narrow and simply not designed to sustain thunderous lorries at this volume. If these plans were to go ahead, there would be unacceptable repercussions on not only the quality of life of local residents, but also their safety.
I will be submitting my formal objections to SCC in due course and strongly urge everyone to do the same. These plans cannot be allowed to succeed.
