I welcome Tandridge District Council’s ambitious plans to support the regeneration and revitalisation of Oxted through a multi-million pound investment package which will attract new businesses and jobs. This is not unique to Oxted – the Caterham masterplan is also aiming to make the local area more attractive and competitive including the Council’s ongoing attempts to purchase the rose and young site bringing major new investment. The status quo is clearly not an option as a number of local businesses have now left Oxted. Having a thriving town means creating the conditions for local businesses to thrive.
The plans to increase car parking charges will help support this much needed local revitalisation and contribute towards a positive future for Tandridge. This also includes the development of the Oxted gasholder site, new business start-up space and the Oxted Bid urban redesign scheme. This vital regeneration – that parking charges will help fund – will enhance the quality and way of life of the residents and businesses in Oxted. I fully endorse TDC’s approach.
