Suspension of ASLEF Southern Rail strikes

I welcome the suspension of next week’s strikes by ASLEF and the return to talks. Ending the industrial action is absolutely essential, in order to allow improvements to be made across the line. The human and financial costs of this dispute are incalculable. People are losing their jobs, struggling to attend school and struggling to spend time with families. It is fare-paying passengers that are bearing the brunt of the stalemate. This cannot continue.
