I met with Chris Gibb, the trouble-shooter appointed in August to sort out Southern Railways’ operations for a frank discussion last night.
Chris highlighted the completely unreasonable and crippling actions from the Unions, which is affecting performance not only on strike days, but on the overall effective running of the railway.
There is a detailed operational plan to improve the performance of Southern, which is being implemented, but the cooperation of staff is needed to realise the full impact. Instead staff are focused on strike action.
Attempts by Chris Grayling to sit down and discuss with Aslef, without conditions have been refused.
