Sam welcomes plan to build on Rose and Young site

Sam is welcoming the news that after more than 20 years, the much needed regeneration of the Rose and Young site in Caterham is close to going ahead. The positive news for Caterham could lead to new jobs and businesses on the site, which has become a local eyesore.

Before the deal is complete, Tandridge District Council is awaiting clearance from the owners of the site, with a Compulsory Purchase Order being issued. The plans will see a new Beefeater Restaurant and hotel being placed on the site, securing tens of new jobs. It will also lead to a commercial unit, with up to 75 new car parking spaces.

Sam said:

“This is a positive and much needed development. I am pleased that the regeneration of the Rose and Young site in Caterham is closer to going ahead. For far too long now, nothing has been done about this site, causing a local eyesore. However, I understand that there are some significant obstacles potentially ahead, and I will be working with Tandridge District Council and the local community to make this a reality”.
