This week is national storytelling week, aimed at encouraging all of us to read more to our children and celebrating the best stories to fuel the imaginations of young children. The importance shouldn’t be underestimated – one study found that by the age of 3, some toddlers might have heard 30 million more words in their home environment than others. My son’s favourite story is currently The Gruffalo, and amongst my team we have been debating what the greatest children’s’ stories are, and why.
I would be interested to know what you think (and any suggestions for what my son, who is almost 2 years old, might like next!). The following list may be a helpful aide memoire: http://metro.co.uk/2016/02/01/20-brilliant-books-for-reading-aloud-to-little-kids-5653667/
