Improving local rail services: meeting with Passenger Focus

Following on from the meeting I convened in March between Southern Rail, Network Rail and a panel of commuters from East Surrey to explore concerns around local rail services, I held a further meeting yesterday with Passenger Focus, the travel watchdog standing up for commuters. It was a detailed and constructive discussion of the issues around improving the passenger experience, with a particular focus on punctuality and the reliability of services. Southern Rail have faced regulatory fines for their failure to meet quality targets which they must reinvest in additional improvements, and I would encourage any constituents facing problems with the service to contact Passenger Focus via their website at http://www.passengerfocus.org.uk/.
