Further Education in Horley

Last week in the Horley Mirror I called for a public debate on the future of further education in Horley. As you are all more than aware there is no post-sixteen education available in the town, and it was after listening to a number of parents and local residents that I decided to kick start a campaign targeting this education shortfall. Whether it’s a Sixth Form College, a University Technical College or a Further Education College, the views of residents’ must to be heard as we consider how to best service the needs of young people in the community. Whilst there are excellent current arrangements and partnerships in place for children studying outside of the town, I’m conscious that as the Horley population increases the strain on resources will only become greater. The Government is committed to raising educational attainment and I don’t want Horley to be left behind. If you have any thoughts on the matter I would be interested to hear from you.
