Following the success of last year’s nominees for the Countryside Alliance Awards, I was thrilled to learn that Priory Farm has been chosen as a regional finalist in the ‘Enterprise’ category by the judging panel for the Countryside Alliance Awards 2013. I was also delighted to have nominated Limpsfield Village Store, Outwood Butchers, the Flower Farm Shop in Godstone, and Chalk Hills Bakery in South Nutfield.Whilst there were many excellent local businesses I could have nominated, I was particularly struck by these firms’ innovative approach and success in providing high-quality, local produce. Only recently I visited Chalk Hills Bakery at Priory Farm in South Nutfield, to witness a late evening shift at the bakery workshop. I was thoroughly impressed by owners Chris and Rosie Robinson, as well as the skilled techniques of the bakers working throughout the night to craft high quality produce. There are many other creative businesses throughout East Surrey and I am always keen to celebrate local enterprise, as well as discuss the challenges these businesses face and what I can do to help in my role as MP.Best of luck to Priory Farm in the final stage of the competition!
